Nigeria Elections, the Biggest Comedy Concert in Africa

Sadness, anxiety and anger enveloped Nigeria as the African Nation concluded its presidential elections after  several days. The incumbent president, Muhammadu Buhari was returned as the President elect of the biggest black nation in Africa. The election which had over 82m registered  voters barely produced just 29millon votes all over the country.

Buhari the Incumbent defeated the opposition candidate Atiku Abubakar with 15million votes. This is unprecedented in the history of Nigerian elections, the Independent National Electoral commission of the country had to wait till midnight, at least that was what it looked like as Nigerians were fast asleep when Yakubu Mahmood the chairman of the electoral body announced the controversial results. The bloody presidential polls held four days ago was seen by many international and local observers as fraudulent and violent. The elections was marred with violence, killings, anarchy and chaos. The election took Nigeria back to the dark days of electoral killings, ballot box snatching and for the first time in a long while,  voters intimidation was introduced to the Nigerian electoral dictionary. The elections in Lagos was terrible, as many eligible voters were forcefully disenfranchised by security agents and hoodlums.

The Okota incident created a deep hole in the soul of our national life, as voters where sent home forcefully because of their tribal and political affiliation. Never in our history as a nation since the civil war have we witnessed such an ugly incident of ethnic provocation.  The elections retrogressed the achievements of the previous governments in terms of electoral conduct. The Attahiru Jega INEC era in 2015 conducted a more transparent elections compared to the charade that happened in the country last Saturday.

The Yakubu Mahmood led INEC will go down in history as the worst electoral body constituted since Independence. For God sake, who postpones elections in the middle of the Night without prior notice to the people? Since our democratic journey as a nation, never have we witnessed such gross incompetence from an electoral umpire!  The collation center was an eyesore, as the announcement of a single election took over 4 days to be counted and announced. The process was slow and fraudulent, the inflation of electoral scores was shocking. From the Kardashian states (Kano Kaduna, Kastina etc) to states where civil servants were been owed salaries, President Muhammadu Buhari was scoring unimaginable figures

How can you have an election and cancel one million votes?? One million freaking votes!! How can Borno ravaged by Boko Haram produce more voters than Lagos?   This is the biggest joke since AY Live in concert. This is totally unacceptable, the disenfranchisement is mind disturbing. The election results published by the ruling party through INEC showed so many abnormalities in the elections, how can you have voters manually accredited up North, and you have card readers not recognizing people down South? How can you have card reader issues down south, and up north you hear of manual accreditation? Do you have an electoral law for the southern Nigeria and that of northern part of Nigeria separately?  The elections in all ramifications was rigged.

But then the opposition is rejecting the result and challenging the decision in court, a move that is necessary at this endangered stage of our democracy. But before justice is served, the truth is that we are stuck with Buhari and his sinking ship at least for the next one year. My question is what should we expect from a government that has noting to lose. The civil servants in Kogi, Osun, Ekiti that voted for a government that is owing them salaries running into months back into government must be congratulated for their fantastic foolishness.
The voters in Benue that still turned up for Buhari even after the herdsmen attacks, must be praised for their beautiful madness.

Before I drop my pen, Yes I need to manage my ink as we have entered another 4 years of Buharinomics. I need to  live within my means now, to avoid embarrassment.  But I want to ask a salient question, who and who voted Buhari? We all agree that the figures were inflated and the elections were rigged we all know, but then, the truth is that some people still voted Buhari, Yes People still reinforced failure for a second time. The reason for this self inflicted wickedness is what I don’t understand, how would you go as far as impoverishing yourself just to prove a point? Or you are praying that something happens to
the driver, so the conductor can take over the driving seat?? Godforbid! We cover the driver, the steering, the wheels with the precious blood of the lamb, noting will happen to Buhari in the next four years, he will be strong, hale and hearty till 2023, for those praying for his death so leadership can go to a certain place, I’m sorry to disappoint you, noting is going to happen to Buhari and his cabal. They will live long, but even by chance anything happens along the line, I trust the cabals, they are equal to the task,  I think this information is necessary to the Bourdillion part of Lagos. This ship, is one we must all sail in

In the end, let it be noted that NIGERIA died on the altar of ethnic sentiments and tribalistic bias.
